01 / THE PROBLEM

The reason behind the build.

Choosing a product for e-commerce often starts with excitement about the listing price. The harder question is whether the numbers still work after sourcing, shipping, fees and risk. I wanted a tool that makes those trade-offs visible before a seller commits money.

Product objective

Built to help e-commerce sellers think through economics before committing budget.

The solution

An interactive browser-based decision cockpit for evaluating product pricing, margins, ROI and risk scenarios using the assumptions a seller provides.

Designed to be easy to explore, useful before making a decision, and honest about what the outputs do and do not mean.

02 / PRODUCT EXPERIENCE

Designed around real decisions.

Each capability supports the task the user came to complete, rather than adding features just to make the interface look busy.

01

Profit economics

Calculate total costs, estimated net profit, profit margin and return on investment from entered assumptions.

02

Price safety zone

Explore break-even pricing, target levels and the room between current and safer prices.

03

Stress testing

Adjust supplier costs, shipping, marketplace fees or returns and inspect how sensitive profitability is.

04

Opportunity scoring

Use a transparent decision-support score to identify products that merit deeper research.

05

What-if simulator

See how outcomes change when major assumptions change, without starting a spreadsheet over.

06

Marketplace readiness

Examine the economic fit of the selected marketplace based on manually supplied inputs.

03 / PRODUCT THINKING

From a question to a guided workflow.

Design and implementation were driven by a straightforward progression.

01 / STEP

Define

Identify the decisions a seller must make before committing capital.

02 / STEP

Structure

Translate prices, costs, fees and risk allowances into comparable inputs.

03 / STEP

Calculate

Compute profit, break-even thresholds, risk scenarios and an opportunity score.

04 / STEP

Explain

Present the trade-offs in a responsive dashboard that invites further research.

05 / ENGINEERING

Simple technology. Useful functionality.

Built as a responsive front-end product that runs in the browser without requiring a backend. The calculations rely on the values provided by the user.

Technology

A lightweight, deployable product

The interface and calculations use standard web technologies; the experience is published using GitHub Pages.

Honest limitations

Useful guidance, not a guarantee

This product does not pull real-time supplier, competitor, sales or market-demand data. Fees and costs are entered manually, so outputs are scenario estimates — not verified market forecasts or guaranteed profitability.

06 / TAKEAWAY

What this product demonstrates.

Good decision tools don't have to predict the market. They can expose which assumptions matter and make uncertainty easier to examine.

It reflects my approach to problem discovery, interaction design, front-end engineering and practical digital product delivery.
